The Hungarian sculptor László Taubert’s static marble and bronze sculptures exude an ageless authority. Taubert has chosen infinity as the theme for his work. He mainly concentrates on geometric shapes although there are always clear signals that point towards the human body. His figures seem immobile, even when motion is suggested by the placing of one leg in front of the other, as if frozen in time. Taubert distinguishes himself by not expressing the mystery of infinity as an endless movement; he actually portrays an all-embracing tranquillity. His sculptures stand like timeless monuments in space. His figures are reduced by extreme abstraction to three dimensional compositions of geometric shapes and they are often presented in pairs. They share absolutely no mutual contact, but solidarity is tangible in their complementary autonomy.
